Use this article when you want a scannable QR code on each badge for:

  • Mobile check-in with a registrant confirmation code

  • A personalized link or website URL

  • Any other attendee-specific text value from your CSV

To encode contact details as a scannable business card, see Badge Maker: Create A vCard QR Code instead.

Before You Begin

Import a CSV file if the QR code should contain different values for each attendee. See Badge Maker: Import Attendee Data From A CSV File.

Steps

  1. Open your badge design in ClearEvent Badge Maker.

  2. In the left Tools panel, click QR Code to add a QR code to your badge.

  3. Select the QR code on the canvas.

  4. In the right Properties panel, find Payload Mode.

  5. Click Text / Token.

  6. In Content / Token, enter the value you want encoded in the QR code. Examples:

    • {ConfirmationCode} for ClearEvent mobile check-in

    • https://example.com/register?id={ConfirmationCode} for a personalized URL

    • A fixed URL such as https://example.com/event when every badge should scan to the same link

  7. Type "{" in the content field to open the field picker, or drag a field from the Fields panel into the field.

  8. Resize and position the QR code on your badge. QR codes stay square.

  9. Turn on Preview in the top toolbar.

  10. Page through attendees and scan the QR code on screen with your mobile device to confirm it resolves correctly.

  11. When you are ready to print, click Print Badges. See Badge Maker: Preview And Print Badges.

šŸ“NOTES:

  • QR content cannot be edited while Preview is on. Turn Preview off to change the payload.

šŸ’”TIPS:

  • If the QR code is hard to scan, increase its size on the badge or raise Error Correction (for example from M - Medium to Q - Quartile or H - High).

  • For ClearEvent on-site check-in, confirm that mobile check-in is enabled for your registration form and that your exported CSV includes the confirmation code column you mapped into the QR code.
