How To Create Post-Event Surveys Using Registration Forms

Learn how to create post-event surveys using Registration Forms to collect structured feedback from your participants.

Updated today

Post-event surveys are an effective way to collect structured feedback while keeping all event data in one place. By using Registration Forms in the Event Manager App, event organizers can repurpose existing functionality to create and distribute post-event surveys without relying on external tools.

This approach reduces manual work and keeps all feedback directly tied to your event and participants.

Overview

In ClearEvent, a post-event survey is simply a Registration Form configured for feedback collection instead of event sign-up. Using this approach, you can:

  • Customize step names, button labels, and instructions (for example, change Register Now to Submit Survey).

  • Create different surveys for specific Registrant types, such as attendees, sponsors, exhibitors, or volunteers.

  • Keep surveys private and share them securely using the form share link.

  • Send survey links using built-in bulk messaging tools.

  • View and export all responses for analysis.

Build a Post-Event Survey Form

  1. Navigate to Event Manager App > Registration section.

  2. Create a new Registration Form, or duplicate an existing form.

  3. Configure the form fields to collect the feedback you need, such as ratings, multiple choice questions, or open-text responses.

Customize Steps and Labels

To ensure the form feels like a survey rather than a registration flow:

  • On the Settings tab, rename the Register Step Name (for example, Event Feedback or Fill Survey).

  • On the Publish tab, update the Register Button Label from Register Now to Submit Survey.

  • Adjust instructional text to clearly explain the purpose of the survey.

These updates help set expectations and improve completion rates.

Create Registrant-Type Specific Surveys

You can collect more targeted feedback by creating separate surveys for different registrant types, such as:

  • Attendees

  • Sponsors

  • Exhibitors

  • Volunteers

Each survey can include questions specific to that audience, resulting in more relevant and actionable insights.

Publish and Share the Survey Securely

RECOMMENDATION: Make post-event surveys private.

  1. Select the Form from the Registration tab and navigate to the Publish tab.

  2. Remove the checkbox besides Public to set the form visibility to Private.

  3. Copy the Share Link and use it to direct participants to the form.

This ensures only invited participants can access the survey.

Send Survey Invitations with Messages

Use the Messages section to distribute survey links by email:

  1. Navigate to Event Manager App > Messages section.

  2. From the Messages tab, click the +Add button to create a new message.

  3. From the Share tab, choose your audience:

    • All participants, or

    • Specific registrant types and/or tickets.

  4. Paste the survey Share Link into the Message Link field.

This allows targeted outreach without exporting contact lists or using third-party tools.

Data Collection and Analysis

Important Note About Anonymity

Survey submissions are not anonymous. At a minimum, first name, last name, and email address are required to submit a survey.

View and Export Survey Results

  • All responses are available in a structured table within the Registration section.

  • Use the Registration export function to download responses as a .csv file.

Exported data can be:

  • Sorted and filtered

  • Analyzed in spreadsheet tools

  • Used to create charts and graphs

Why Use Registration Forms for Surveys?

By combining Registration Forms, Publish settings, and Messages, event organizers can:

  • Eliminate external survey tools

  • Reduce manual data handling

  • Keep feedback tied to participant records

  • Maintain a single source of truth for event data

This flexible approach allows you to collect actionable insights while continuing to manage everything within the ClearEvent platform.
