Secure Your ClearEvent Account with Two-Factor Authentication

Learn how Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) can be used to secure access to your event and attendee data.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

What is 2FA?

Two-factor authentication adds a second check— a short, one-time code— to your normal password sign-in. Even if someone learns your password, they can’t enter ClearEvent without that extra code, keeping your event and attendee data safer.

How 2FA works in ClearEvent

Two-factor authentication can be enabled at the Organization level, or at an individual ClearEvent account holder level.

If 2FA is enabled or required for your ClearEvent account, when you next sign in to the ClearEvent platform to access your event, you'll be sent a short verification code.

This verification code will, by default, be sent to the email associated with your ClearEvent account.

If you add a verified mobile phone number to your ClearEvent account, future 2FA verification codes will be sent to your mobile phone via SMS text message.

💡TIP: It is recommended to add a verified phone number to your ClearEvent account since receiving verification codes via SMS is the more secure form of 2FA available in ClearEvent.

Turn 2‑Factor Authentication (2FA) On or Off

  1. Open My Account Settings

    1. Click your name in the top‑right corner to open the My Account > Settings dialog.

    2. Select the Security tab.

  2. Toggle 2FA

    1. In Two‑Factor Authentication, check or uncheck Enable two‑factor authentication on your account checkbox.

  3. (Optional) Add SMS codes

    1. Enter your Country Code and Mobile Number.

    2. Click Verify Phone & Enable SMS 2FA.

    3. Type the verification code sent to your phone.

    4. Once verified, SMS becomes another way to receive 2FA codes.

📝NOTE: If you are a member of an organization that requires 2FA to be enabled, you will not be able to disable 2FA for your ClearEvent account.

💡TIP: You may enable 2FA even if your organization does not require it.

How verification codes are delivered

  1. Email: When a new ClearEvent account is created, verification codes are delivered via email.

  2. SMS: To enhance your account security, you can enable SMS delivery of 2FA verification codes by adding a verified phone number to your ClearEvent account. Once a verified phone number is added, all SMS 2FA verification codes will be sent via SMS text messages to your mobile phone.

What to expect when signing in to ClearEvent

  • Occasionally (for example, on a new browser, a new network, or after 30 days) you’ll see a “Send Verification Code” page after your enter your email and password.

  • By default, the 2FA code will be emailed to the email address associated with your ClearEvent account. If you added a verified phone number to your ClearEvent account, you will instead receive the code via SMS on your mobile phone.

  • You will need to inspect either you email inbox, or your mobile phone SMS messages to retrieve the 2FA code.

  • Enter the six-digit 2FA code when prompted to finish signing in.
