Payments: Stripe account flagged as Restricted

Learn how to update your Stripe account to allow payouts for funds collected through ClearEvent.

Updated over a week ago

If you have connected a Stripe account to your event in ClearEvent, your Stripe account may become flagged as Restricted by Stripe until certain information has been provided to Stripe and your account has been reviewed.

A Restricted Stripe account means that payouts or online payments are disabled. Additional information usually needs to be provided to enable these accounts. Hovering over the status badge in your Stripe dashboard displays:

  • Which capability is disabled (payouts or payments).

  • What information is required to enable the account.

What to expect if your Stripe account if flagged as Restricted

When creating a new Stripe account, the information provided to Stripe will be reviewed by Stripe. If any account details are missing (for example, Business Tax ID) Stripe will send an email to you directly (to the account holder email address) provided. You will also see a warning message directly in your Stripe Dashboard. For example:

You will need to follow the steps and provide the required information to enable payouts for your Stripe account.

Stripe Prohibited and Restricted Businesses

Depending on the type of event or business you run, Stripe may consider you a prohibited or restricted business. In this case, you will be unable to create a verified Stripe account and will be unable to collect online payments through the ClearEvent platform as Stripe is currently our only payment provider option.
